I told Riah we needed to do some trip planning, and he ran to his room and grabbed his CARS toys. I ran to my travel supplies and grabbed my "HERE IT IS" maps, some pages I had printed out already from online and of course the Michael Wallis Route 66 book. The Boy did his thing playing, I did my thing reading... and all the sudden he says, "Mom! I have a great idea, let's take a picture of each CARS vehicle for the website!" Now how could I argue with creative nature like that?! We had fun playing and photographing, all the while talking about new Route 66 stuff he would be seeing for the first time this trip! He's a cool kid. Oh... yeah, I'm a cool mom too ;)

Michael Wallis wrote this awesome book around 1990 I believe. He helped the Pixar people with the research for the CARS film, and was the voice of the Sheriff.

We will do all of Missouri 66 this trip, as well as all of Kansas (only 13 miles!) and part of Oklahoma. I also expect we will hit some of Illinois 66 again on our return trip to Champaign, but we will be going to Saint Louis via a different route this time.

This is Riah recreating scenes from the movie.

This is where Mac is sleepy and the cars surround him

This is a really neat toy! We love the inside of the Mac toy

He likes to make "tire tracks" in the carpet

He wanted to do three angles of every car, I convinced him to only do three of Lightning
